Digitalisation is a journey, so to start with, keep it simple, start small, then scale up. Focus on certain aspects: Smart Maintenance, Smart Product Development, Smart Inventory Management, Smart Supply Chain, etc. While the boundaries between IT and OT are blurring, there are two parts in an IIoT project: people with IT knowledge have difficulties with data acquisition from the field; people with an OT profile may struggle with cloud systems, value creation & distribution, which require some level of IT competence.
